I'm having great difficulty playing xvid movies. I've tried installing vlc, but get dependancy errors:

Error: Missing Dependency: libpulse.so.0(PULSE_0) is needed by package vlc
Error: Missing Dependency: libopendaap.so.0 is needed by package vlc-core
Error: Missing Dependency: libdvdnav.so.4 is needed by package vlc-core

Liveupdate also refuses to work properly, stating that the network connection is down when it's not. I don't think I've really done anything particularly complex, just installed thunderbird and firefox 3.

How do I fix this? Would using the boot disk sort things out?

Cheers for that, it's worked like a charm! Seems such a shame to be sending it away tomorrow for repair, now. Stupid black screen of death. Gah!

    Anyway, thanks again!

Before you send it back, try this. Has saved a lot of black screen of death situations, mine including.

They've replaced the motherboard. We'll see if it works, now... :p
