    Hello friends-
I've posted this problem in Ubuntu, but since I've switched to Mandriva and am having the same problem I thought I'd open it up here for all to ponder.

The gist is this: I installed the fan script to make my AA1 be quieter (available here and in several other places as well) but it doesn't work. The entire archive of my travails so far is found here, but this is the most recent problem I'm having:

When I check the system log now it doesn't even detect acerfand.

Now, here's something that may or may not matter: when I list the files in /usr/local/bin, it lists acer_ec.pl and acerfand, but acerfand is in green text.

Any ideas? I appreciate the help.

    Post the results of:

    ls -l /usr/local/bin/acerfand

    and

    ls -l /usr/local/bin/acer_ec.pl

    Cheers.

    Okay, here's what I get:

    Code:
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 4244 2008-11-09 11:41 /usr/local/bin/acerfand*
    and
    Code:
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8410 2008-11-09 11:41 /usr/local/bin/acer_ec.pl

Then the following command should run it ...

    /usr/local/bin/acerfand

    Cheers.
