    1. Buy a copy of XP SP3
    2. Buy/borrow an external optical drive
    3. Boot from optical drive and install.
Not having told us exactly what you have tried (where did you get these OS'es? what versions of the OS?) or what you are running into, you aren't giving us lots to work with.

I was in the exact same situation but I found the answer.... Google TinyXP by RonL. It is off of a blog. He has a version of slipstreamed Windows XP that cannot be beat! It has all of the drivers installed and everything will work. The package came in several .rar pieces but it says if you dig through the blog how to join them and install them.

    ENJOY!

PS - after trying Windows XP, Mandriva and Fedora XFCE, I must admit I fell in love with Fedora 10 xFCE. It is pretty, boots as fast as LINPUS, it is easy to get stuff working and it has a vast repository, so I uninstalled Windows XP.

PPS - LINPUS is NOT crap! It really does work and it is pretty hackable. In fact I thought that once I had Wine on it, it was better at running many Windows Apps than Windows.

Anyway good luck and enjoy the wonderful little machine that you bought! It is really likable if you give it a chance and get your hands a bit dirty. :D

    To restate:

Windows XP Home SP3 (sp3 is important so you'll have no driver issues)
    External USB DVD drive

Install XP on FAT32 and NOT NTFS.... this is important in SSD or else your AAO will crawl!
Disable indexing on all files/folders in C: , Disable paging file, System Restore
Install the drivers from the Acer Site.... enjoy! :)

PS- there are alot more tweaks, but these are the basics that will let you use a usable XP machine.

Download the first three files from this thread from megaupload and use the program described on the thread to join them.

    viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8882

Take all the files out of the iso it creates and put them in a folder named anything you ie XP3. Put that on your C drive of a sepaerate pc (not with vista on it)

    Get yourself a USB stick.

Follow this youtube link but when creating usb boot select cancel at first prompt so you put your settings ie name, company, product key etc once windows is installing since you have 30 days to buy a key or READ INFO FILE.

    - Also put the first file he asks you to d/load in C folder.

This should get you going mate once you understand the steps it is simple and you can always go back and use N-LITE to alter your version of windows from the original file i told you to name XP above

    Good Luck

You should align the partiton if using an SSD. Windows XP puts the starting point at sector 63, which is in the middle of an SSD page. Use diskpar or some other method to align it at sector 64. This will help performance in XP.
