I had an error with windows 7, bios error etc. Well one of my friends decided it would be cool to use cmd and format the c drive, idk if he formatted the restore partition too. Whenever I turn on the computer, after the bios, it says missing operating system. I've tried to boot to the usb thumbdrive, but no luck, and none of the other boot options work as well.

    Any ideas?

So what you're trying to say is you can't boot via USB on your Aspire One?

What's the boot order in your BIOS?

    Mines is set to:
    1.IDE0 (obvious)
2.IDE1 (not sure it's in use but what the heck)
    3.USB HDD
    4.UDB CDROM
    5.USB FDD (Floppy)
    6.Network Boot

When you have a USB Flash drive inserted and press F12 at boot, do you get a list of devices?

e.g. Physical Hard Drive and USB Device for boot options?

When USB Flash drive inserted in any USB slot, does the Flash Drive show any sign of power (most have leds on them)?

Leds work on it, and the boot order is

    1. IDE 0: WDC WD1600BEVT-22ZCT0
    2. USB HDD: Sand Disk Cruzer
    3. Network Boot: LEGACY PCI DEVICE
    4. USB CDROM: Sand Disk Cruzer

now when i go from f2 I have

    1. IDE0 : WDC WD1600BEVT-22ZCT0
    2. IDE1 :
    3. USB FDD :
    2. USB HDD : Sand Disk Cruzer
    3. Network Boot : LEGACY PCI DEVICE
    4. USB CDROM : Sand Disk Cruzer

When any are selected, it acts like its gonna do something, the cruzer light's blink, but then it just says "Missing operating system"

    Glad it works now.

My next suggestion was to send it back to Acer if there were no LED light on the USB Flash drive...
