I bought one from my local walmart yesterday and wondering about the upgradability of it. Enclosing 2 hirez pics. On the opposite side of the wifi card is another slot.

On one sticker it is labeled NAV50. On another 532h-2527. Total price was $318 but before taxes I think it was listed as $298.

I am mainly wondering if I can add a 3g mod to it. I can also get 4GB memory simms at newegg for a decent price but don't want to waste money on something that won't work.

Not sure about the 3g thing, but do not attempt an upgrade to 4gigs of memory. You will be throwing your money away as the motherboard will not recognize 4 gigs of RAM. I have the older 9" screen AAOne which has 512Mb of RAM hard mounted to the motherboard and a 512 chip in a slot. Maximum RAM it will handle is a 1 gig chip for a total of 1.5 gigs total. Motherboard will not recognize anything over 2 gigs. If you have the newer 10" model running Win XP, there is a small cover on the bottom which you can remove to replace the ram chip. Someone correct and how to upgrade.me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the maximum size chip you can use is 2 gigs which would give you a total of 2.5 gigs. Doesn't anyone read their owners manual any more? I believe it will tell you how to do it and how much RAM it can upgrade to. Continue to explore these forums for your answers and also try a Google search for your EXACT model upgrade help.

the 10" models do not have the 512mb onboard. they do however still have the 2gb limit.

as for adding 3g, you can add it to the additional port, just look to see if your mobo has a sim card slot, along with the actual sim card holder inside of the slot.
on the d250, it was under the battery slot. but non-3g systems didnt have the simcard holder, it had to be soldered on. ymmv.

I bought the same exact model at my WalMart. Did you ever upgrade your RAM from 1GB to 2GB?

I just can't understand you guys who buy netbooks and the first thing they do is open them up and upgrade them. Why don't you buy a higher spec computer in the first place :? :? :?

Wow, this is really bothering you - isn't it?[IMG] Why would I spend a few hundred dollars more if all I wanted to do is add 1GB of RAM for under $50?

No need for sarcasm  , and no, it doesn't bother me in the slightest, just expressing an opinion, but doesn't opening up your machine invalidatethe warranty?

Just responding the way your "comment" comes across  - STOP
Happy it doesn't bother you in the slightest  - STOP
No seals are broken when upgrading RAM - but yes, I'm sure if "push came to shove" it is breaking the warranty - STOP
