    Hey Guys-and gals-

OK, the lid and the area around the touchpad gets all fingerprinted and shiny..what to do....?

Bingo - Use a Lens cleaning cloth. The current cloths are microfiber polyester..and it takes off the
    slime instantly.

Have fun! (and get RID of that Norton immediately)

    Bob

That sounds good but, I'm in the US. Hopefully, a local chain sells them at that price here. Thanks.

Microfiber cloths are everywhere! Look in discount/dollar stores. Or just buy an eyeglass cleaning kit. I carry one with me daily. I own a PPC phone and an iPod Touch and now an AAO...plus, I wear glasses. To be without a microfiber cloth nowadays is fingerprint suicide! lol

I use the same type of cloth that I use to clean my glasses :)

Sometimes I find that I need to use a cleaning agent, window cleaner or similar to get rid of everything, especially on the lid. It's such a fingerprint magnet  Just make sure to test it on a small part in the corner first to make sure it doesn't scratch or damage the surface, and use as little as possible.

Be careful with that window cleaner or anything that contains *alcohol,* it has a tendency to affect the finish. Screen cleaners specifically advise against this in their promotional materials. I'm not an expert though.

    Thanks.

i can throw in an obvious hint! lol
WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE YOU USE YOUR AAO1

i know that probably seems like i'm a germaphobe or something, but think about all the stuff you touch and all the dirt that is on your hands. Very easily transferable to the lappy. Including the keyboard, which would suck to get dirty if you have the white one.

    Overlooking the Obvious

This is the first white keyboard I've had. It makes sense that, over time, it will begin to get dirty so that tip of washing one's hands makes sense to me. :)

I deliberately went with the blue because it didn't have a white/glossy keyboard, because my hands tend to be not the cleanest in the world and I didn't want them turning gray anyway.

What you use on a pair of glasses (The fluid and cloth) works wonders on my 19" Dell LCD, I have cleaned my first generation iPod Nano with it too and they all come out perfect and I am sure that the AAO will come out looking good as new as well!
