before i go any further, i should make it clear that i am a complete linux novice. i only know how to do things that i copy and paste from tutorials/help pages.

now onto what i suspect may be a problem:

today i plugged a usb gps dongle into my aspire one running fedora 10. it reported a kernel failure. i unplugged it, restarted and the kernel failure notification popped up again.

i then plugged my bluetooth dongle into the same usb port, restarted and i got no kernel failure warning.

was the warning something to worry about (have i caused any damage to the fedora 10 installation), or was it just a warning to say that an appropriate driver could not be found for the usb gps?

thanks in advance for any help given!

Unless you were running as root, it was very likely just a warning about the lack of a driver. Cutting and pasting the message here will better enable us to assist you.
