Is there any chance Sickboy or Sarvatt would produce a kernel for the Acer D150 10.1" ??

I'd be happy to post any details they need !!

    Any chance :)

I am not so sure that is necessary with the D150. Here is a tip. Forget about UNR (although it runs well...) Go ahead and install Xubuntu. It worked well for me. The current version is very nice. And it runs f-a-s-t.

I've got Ubuntu 9.04 installed and most things work fine (Front MIC only works with the backport kernel installed)

My kids 8.9" Acer's seem a lot faster using either SickBoy's or Sarvatt's kernel.
Boot times are very fast !!

Just thought a streamlined kernel would help my D150... I'm sure other would like it !!

Then just install the kernel. If you see no choice of kernel during startup, set the timeout larger. To do so, edit /boot/grub/menu.lst (do so as root), and look for a section like:
    Code:
    ## timeout sec
    # Set a timeout, in SEC seconds, before automatically booting the default entry
    # (normally the first entry defined).
    timeout 5
You may see the full boot menu or a message "press escape to see the menu" during boot. Once in the boot menu, you can select which kernel to boot to. So if the SICKBOY kernel is broken, just boot to your old kernel. It is still there after installing the SICKBOY kernel.

You can remove the SICKBOY kernel (as well as any other kernel) through the package manager.

In short: you have nothing to loose by trying!

 There is one warning though: if you hibernated the machine, you must boot to the same kernel when waking up. Otherwise, you will get a kernel panic (meaning a fatal error) and the hibernated session is lost.

    Hi
    Thanks for the reply.

I have tried these kernels and they didn't work for me...
    I was hoping for a specific D150 kernel ;)
