    Hi!

I installed more memory on my brand new AA1 A110L, everything worked like a charm, but the keyboard cannot be fasten.. The three upperclips is missing.. maybe i pushed them to far in their hole? Is it any trick to get them out? And if not.. how the heck shall i fasten the keyboard now? glue? tape?

I will try to get a photo of this, when i get home from work..
    - if you forward to 1:36 you can se which clips or tabs i mean..

I was looking at buying the 150 with 120Gb harddrive and Linpus installed, then upgrading the RAM myself.
After viewing the youtube video, I think I'll get the XP version that already has the upgraded RAM. I can then install Linpus or a full version of Fedora to dual boot with XP. It will cost me more, but I'll have the best of both worlds and no scary moments with a screwdriver! ;)

Why O Why didn't they put a hatch on the bottom like most full size laptops? Its just stupid if you ask me!

As for your keyboard problem. try taking the keyboard back out and hooking the clips back out with a dental pick (Colgate do a kit with a Pick and small mirror at most Supermarkets and Drugstores). If that doesn't work then try some double sided tape, but it may not hold due to the heat build up within the case.

Yeah, I think I "lost" a couple of the tabs also :| after doing the RAM upgrade. I still have one tab that works, and it seems to be enough to keep the keyboard in place.

I did notice the two missing tabs when I removed the keyboard. After taking the top cover off, I checked the back, and I could just barely see the tabs from the backside (there's a black plastic sheet on the back that partially covers them).

From what I could see, the tabs have a rectangular portion that sticks through the slots above the keyboard. They fasten to backside of the top cover with a couple of small screws; they also have little curved sections between the tab and the attachment points that give it a little "spring" action (it's a little hard to visualize, but I didn't get any pictures).

On mine, the curved sections looked like they almost broke from being pushed in, so they don't provide any spring force to push the tab back thru the slot. I don't see any easy way to fix them without dismantling the stuff on back of the top cover.

Anyway, as somebody else mentioned, you could probably get by with a couple of strips of double-sided tape between the back of the keyboard and the top tray...

This happened to me. You just need to poke them back out from behind. Just get the front face off and flip it over. You'll see the clips on the underside.

The left one and middle is easy to poke back out, but the one on the right is harder because there is the power/hdd LED plastic in the way.

The led plastic is held in with some plastic rivets which are easility defeated with a screwdriver. Once u got the rivets out the way you can take out the led plastic, pop the keyboard clip back and put the led plastic where it was. It will stay in without the rivets no problems.

    This happend to me also,
Unfortunately you have to dismantle it again!! Mine merely hooked in behind the casing!!
It took some CAREFUL levering to get them out but looking at the way they work I doubt it that they are broken off!?

I am having the same problem, all three of my plastic tabs have gone back too far and are pointing down at such an angle that they won`t fit back into the slots. Try as I might I can`t bring them back far enough to fit back in. I`m also not sure what to do about the clear plastic around the LED lights that one poster said can be easily ``defeated`` with a screwdriver. Do you mean BREAK the plastic, cause I`m too afraid to do that! Any help would be greatly appreciated

mine did that too for the latch above the F1/F2 keys (the infamous led plastic).
remove keyboard bezel. use a flat mini scewdriver or pick to carefully pry up around each one of the posts of the led bezel in succession a little at a time. remove led clear plastic, carefully lift up the black plastic shield and metal shield just enough to look for the tab/latch. u should be able to see the tab.
the tab is not broken, just pushed too far in & twisted up into the back of the keyboard bezel . just hook it & push it back into place with a pic or mini flat screwdriver.

THANK YOU so much, I finally got those retention tabs back in. I hate to admit but reassembly of the AA1 was a lot harder for me than disassembly! I was able to pry the clear plastic part off on the left corner but I no longer goes back in securely. Luckily the rest of the components `sandwich` it into place so it stays put. Those retention tabs that got `stuck` were a right pain, I had to use tweezers and two small flathead screwdrivers in order to pull them back far enough so they would fit back in the slots. I hope I never have to disassemble this baby again, but now bios is reading 1536 Mb ram and I`m installing Vista Ultimate as we speak. Woo hoo!
