Is this the Linux version of Aspire or the Windows XP?

On the Windows XP version go to the following: Control Panel -> Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options -> Regional and Language Options ->

Go to the Languages Tab and click Details. Click Add and select the appropriate Keyboard driver.

I will have to power up the Linux laptop to get the instructions for that, so let me know if you don't have Windows XP.

    Thanks!
