laptop help please????

hi i really need some help on my laptop i have a acer 4820t. basically last week i was using it plugged in, and it just turned off. wouldnt start. wouldnt turn on without battery or with battery. tested the charger, it works. so was told i need a new motherboard. so i bought one of ebay, changed them over.

laptop now starts up now, but theres no screen. the fan just gets really loud. the screen is not a problem as i have tried using a external screen and it doesnt work.

Hi there,

It sounds like you've not seated one or two cables correctly to me.
I would strip it down and check all cables are seated properly and not damaged.

Those ribbon cables with the plastic catches are a pain to seat right so would undo any and make sure they are clean of any finger prints and pushed as fully in as you can.

might just sell the parts now
if i get the same laptop or one that uses the same hardrive. and put my hardrive from this in it, would it simply have everything on it that i had. dont want to lose anything, theres nothing else i have to do is there?
