Apple just put out Leopard 10.5.5 today, and since I'm getting my One tomorrow, I was wondering if the iAtkos install thread will be able to update to 10.5.5. Can anyone help?

some times system updates from apple will work, it depends on what is updated. I tried the 10.5.5 on my mostly vanilla install rig (q6600, gigabyte ep35c-ds3r, geforce 7300, 4gb ram, many hds). it hung at about 35% and hosed my install. not a big deal as i have hourly backups via time machine and daily full backups via sync pro x, but i wont be doi ng this on the aspire until i hear further feedback from the users at insanelymac.com

been surfing around to look for answer to 10.5.5 updating and i believe it is going to have to be a self install rather then actually updating from "software update"

i recall on my kalyway i had to go from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 with a kalyway update then i was able to go to 10.5.4 with the apple software update.

looking forward to seeing what others find.

    Well,

DO NOT UPDATE TO 10.5.5 WITH AUTO UPDATE!!!

I tried that on my hackintosh yesterday, now my OSX86 won't boot up! Just so you know...! :ugeek:

this is not the same for everyone, it depends on install method and hardware.

some people can use the software update (vanilla kernel boot 132 users in specific)

    does not work

I have had windows on my one for the past week or so, because I just felt it better suited my needs.
So, I installed vista home premium, and all the blah blah blah, and then it just became super slow, like slower that the ssd, and im on a zif hdd.
so anyway thought d go back to iatkos, installed it all set it up, went into itunes, and it says itunes 8 is available for download.
so software update runs, and i thought i would try the 10.5.5, but no luck, it just crashes about 1 second after darwin booots os.

to get 10.5.5 working on these laptops, you will definately need to remove appleintelcpupowermanagement, and im assuming modify the startup to call dsmos.kext rather then Don't Steal Mac OSX.kext. other then that im not sure. Im gonna do a ccc backup of osx today and give it a go.

Just hosed my AA1 with a iATKOS 10.5.4 install trying to update to 10.5.5.

I followed the directions on the InsanelyMac forum site using the 10.5.5 ComboUpdate (tried to use the 10.5.5Update but install stated that it was corrupt). On restart I got into a reboot loop. Tried to repair permissions, then startup with the -x -v at the boot prompt but to no avail.

I did a I backed-up my kexts with OSXTools before attempting the update, so I'll be able to restore my settings when i reinstall.

I will attempt to download and update with just the 10.5.5Update and get back with you.

Ok, I tried the combo update, along with the method stated by netkas. It got about 1/2 way done, and I had kernel panic. I had the script that removes the applecpumanagment.kext running in terminal while installing. I'll probably give it a go on my thinkpad tonight if I get time.

    ok im on 10.5.5

    heres how:
    backup extensions and kernel
download comboupdate and apply do not restart
    remove appleintelcpupower....
edit startup script to point to dsmos.kext
replace extensions and kernel with backed up copies
    repair permissions, reboot

its not using 9.5.0 kernel but its 10.5.5 and its stable with the 9.4.0 kernel

sure i can do that. here are the commands

    pre 1. sudo su -
    1. cp -R /System/Library/Extensions ~/Desktop
    2. cp -R /mach_kernel ~/Desktop
    3. Download combo update from apples site http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/n...atform=osx&method=sa/MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.5.dmg
    4. Run combo update, DO NOT RESTART
    5. rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPower*
    6. vi /System/InstallAtStartup/scripts/1 (change Dont Steal Mac OSX.kext to dsmos.kext)
    7. cp -R ~/Desktop/Extensions /System/Library/
    8. cp -R ~/mach_kernel /
    9. Open Disk Utility and repair permissions on the OSX volume.
    10. Reboot with fingers cross, you did back up right.

did you download the combo update and apply or did you try to do it through software update?

I installed the combo update via the link you posted. I haven't tried it through the software update.
My kernel shows up as ToH 9.2.0 Kernel in os x86 tools.
