Apologies if this has been double posted but I may have pressed the save button rather than the submit and cannot find my saved messages.

Anyway, what I was curious about was my /boot folder does not contain a menu.lst file which I thought was a requirement but it does contain a similar file named grub.conf

Is this an alternative name or a quirk of Linpus?

I think it's just a quirk of fedora

Right, didn't think of it being down to Fedora.

I assume then it does exactly the same.

Well Moblin is based off Fed as well, and it doesn't have a menu.lst so I'm guessing it's a Fed quirk :) . You can edit the grub.conf to the similar effect though

Strangely I commented out the hiddenmenu option and altered timeout to 10 but on reboot didn't get any menu showing.

I was root when I altered it, I will now try againg.

Tried again commenting out hiddenmenu and altering timeout to 10 but it appears to hang on boot, no text on the screen, just a completely black screen until I pressed Ctrl-Alt-F1 (this might have been coincidental) whereupon the boot continued.
