    Hi
Im finding all these different kinds of linux confusing and hard to know where to start. Is there somewhere I can compare them all?
Id like to see a chart or something similar that includes all the main Linux versions in comparison to Linpus Lite

Boot up time comparison on AA1
    Install size
Pros and cons or each OS, software availability etc
    Overall compatibility
    How easy to install etc
    Suitability to SSD /HD
    Install methods, USB stick etc,
    etc.

I think a lot of people would like to see this. I know that what version depends on what you want to do with it but until you know the above you cant know what you can do with it.

    thanks remainz

I would split them between KDE, Gnome and XFCE as you work with one of these environments. All systems will behave similar. Kubuntu/Ubuntu/Xubuntu seems to be most user friendly and have good performance on most of the machines...

I think you're trying to go about things back-assward. Determine what you want to do with your AA1, then pick a distro that lets you do that. Everyone has their favorite (except me, I've got several)

I've heard many people saying that Mandriva is really good but I've never tried it. My personal favorite is Linpus Linux Lite (the one that comes with the Aspire One). I think that no other distro can beat it at boot speed except Puppy Linux or some light Puplets. I've also tried Ubuntu but it was a hassle for me to install the wireless driver (madwifi) + it failed. I've also tried Eeebuntu - It's kind of slow to boot up, the bottom bar is annoying when watching a full-screen video and the wireless was working fine till one day, it couldn't connect and then it wouldn't work at all. I prefer Linpus Linux Lite... ;)

I don't know of a place but you could make a chart and post it updating it as more people tell you about there experiences.
