Let me see if I understand correctly...
Q1) Can you switch to Linpus?
A1)Yes (from a CD, you'll need an external drive of course)

Q2) Will it recognize all drivers?
A2)Maybe; if not, Acer's site should have them.

Q3) If you want to switch back, can you?
A3) Yes, but it involves not erasing the recovery partition that is on your hard drive. In other words, you'll have to sacrifice a little bit of hard drive space to have the "switch-back" ability. If you need to switch back, you'll have to ask someone more intelligible than I for help (since I've never needed to).

Be careful - if you install from the CD you may wipe out the contents of your hard drive (including WinXP and the restore partition!). I've installed several Linuxes on my 120GB HDD/WinXP system, including Linpus, but the Linpus install was a dd from a recovery image on a usb stick that some kind soul posted (search the forum). I've kept the WinXP install and the restore partition. The method I used required me to properly prepare the disk before installing Linpus; I did that from a Fedora install, but someone who knew what they were doing could do it from a live cd.
