Hi all, should we respond to a guy who is using an illegal windows and who can't uninstall software? /rhetoric question 1) first thing i do after install is getting rid of the netbook remix so i can't help you there 2) well i'm a ff lover because it's 100% more configurable and customizable than opera. I tried Opera several times but it never clicked between us. 3) i like VLC and Thunderbird been using them for years 4) I change em too 5) How do you change it in EasyPeasy? I'd love to know cause i never mastered the netbook remix YEP I Agree very annoying With regards to the Opera dependency.. i don't get that one: it is available and installed on mine? Be lazy and use the Synaptics Package Manger and check if it is available on your system p.s. I'm not making fun of you... i think we're back to the different tastes, wishes, expectations.
Hi csmo, i checked for ye Opera is not available in Synapitcs but libqt3-mt is. Are you using Netbook Remix ?? cause i'm not quite sure what we're talking about :?: Thx for that bit Please have a look at Linux4One again and post your wishes in the wishlist for version 1.1!! http://www.linux4one.it/forum/index.php?topic=448.0 Never Mind heineken i'll have a Guinness please
Over at their forum, the developers say that a minimum of 5Gb is needed for install. That, plus my current TinyXP left less than a gig over. Believe; don't believe. Meh.
Hi csmo, we're going way off-topic here but... Opera more customizable??? I fell in love with FF (aot) because i can just drag and drop all the bits of the interface to where ever i want them. This means that i threw some of the buttons away and dragged and dropped the ones that i do want to the position where i want them, this includes bits like the search bar, the address bar etc. The bars that i emptied using this procedure i turned off leaving me with just 1 menu bar and a whole lot of viewable webspace. (My FF probably looks like you've never seen FF before.) I've been trying Opera regularly since version 6 and i recently tried 9.x but i still can't do the above mentioned stuff with Opera as far as i know and for me it's too overladen with stuff i don't want or need. I love the fact FireFox is basically bare and that i can just add the stuff i need and want. as you may derive from my love for FireFox i want total freedom.. It's my Personal Computer totally tailored to my usage and my visual preferences. I want all the whistles and bells and functionality... xfce doesn't give me that cause not all that i want works under xfce I've been using BB4WIN for years on my Windows machine and BlackBox is what i would really like to use but because as under xfce not all apps that i want work under blackbox... I've resorted to using Gnome and by now it looks and works almost like my windows pc with the blackbox shell @UncleBeer; There is a big difference between before and after install... same goes fore WinXP. (It's a mindbreaker ) How about that Guinness csmo?
hi csmo, it's a pity that we probably live a few thousand miles apart. Otherwise we could have that Guinness and show each other exactly what we mean.. i think our main difference is here: against: combined with: Good thing we agree on that Guinness how about Murphy's?
I like Linux 4 one so far! Everything seems to be working right out of the box, even wireless. I ditched the remix interface and got the plain Ubuntu desktop, very clean. Seems about as fast as linpus, am pretty happy with it so far. But trying to install the rest of openoffice is driving me crazy. I can't seem to get it to work. I tried this solution: http://www.linux4one.it/forum/index.php?topic=545.0 But get this error: W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net hardy Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 60D11217247D1CFF Can someone give this noob some easy directions on how to install the full Openoffice suite working in Linux4One? Thanks, Cat
Try in a terminal: gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv 60D11217247D1CFF gpg --export --armor 60D11217247D1CFF | sudo apt-key add - Grtz,
I tried to install L4O using unetbootin, but for some reason it won't install. It goes through a bunch of text and freezes. Anyone know any possibilities?
Have you confirmed the MD5 checksum with the iso. MD5 (linux4one_1.00.iso) = 55bde7a72bba6f5da4cf7249bc02d483 If it doesn't match, it will need to be redownloaded. I suggest using the torrent or the direct link.
