I have a new Aspire One dual-booting netbook w/ Android on it. I am an Android app developer.

I am trying to figure out how to (1) look at the file system (with a file
manager type of interface), and (2) install an app on it (specifically
one that I am developing). It seems like all this should be obvious,
but the netbook isn't something that I can just hook up to my SDK
using the USB cable so apps don't install on it the same way that they do on
(say) a Droid. The environment seems to be relatively closed compared
    to other devices.

Maybe there is a way to ssh into it over the network?

    Thanks for any help.

If I'm not mistaken, a browser installed on Acer Aspire One (in Android mode) does not recognize QR codes which is crazy. Or is it only Firefox which doesn't while a default browser does? I don't have my Acer Aspire with me right know to check it. So, you're having a sort of 'what is first, a chicken or eggs' problem here. And Acer does not provide any meaningful support, nor this forum does...

    Having said that,

    - You'll need an SD card. Get one and insert into a slot on Acer Aspire One. You can copy some .apk files from your Android phone's SD card too.

    - Open http://andappstore.com/AndroidApplications/apps/!index using a default Android browser and download and install 'The AndAppStore Client'. Then open it, go to "Utilities" category and install AndExplorer and/or OI File Manager. If I remember correctly, one o both of this applications allows to click on .apk files to install applications. Under 'Internet' category you'll find some FTP, SSH, Telnet clients (I didn't try them). Under 'Development' there is Droid Explorer app.

    - Open https://slideme.org/ and install SlideMe market. Go to https://slideme.org/application/es-file-explorer and install ES File Explorer. Personally, I found this one to be the best. It not only allows to manage your SD card and internal Android storage, install applications from .apk files, but also to connect over WiFi to your home network. There is an extensive built-in help system there.

At this point you already resolved 'chicken or eggs' problem which frankly shouldn't even occur, if there was a proper support from Acer or this forum's users...

P.S. In case you need a Google Wave invitation, I have some spare ones.

Nice. Thank you very much for the help -- I appreciate it. The key is that you can't use the firefox browser, but have to use the default browser. I've moved to the Wave for my next question.
