Re: Loading OSX (Swindon?) couple of issues ....

Please excuse this intrusion - and ignore me if I'm out of order ....

Could I ask a question about loading OS X on my Aspire One A110 AW please?

I have searched the forums but I guess I'm way out of my depth to fully understand what's going on ....

    Kind Regards

    Hugh

    It's stuck!

    Any ideas guys?

    Kind Regards

If you need someone to load it on for you, OSX86 isnt for you. What about when you update to 10.5.8 and it screws up, what are you going to do then?
No point mate, I would suggest Windows 7, very nice OS, I dual boot it with OS X

But second thoughts - I'd prefer to learn the how and why - I don't want someone to do it for me but some help would be appreciated or at least a sounding board ....

Old dog and new tricks? Possibly, but I'm willing to try!

I'll investigate BIOS first and then Graphic Drivers.

    Kind Regards

    Hugh

Try iDeneb. Follow the instructions exactly and you should have your OSX ready without any problem.

Still attempting retail install .....(Aspire One A110)

Using Chameleon I can start Leopard load. Get to grey apple screen + progress wheel.

Still have to use CPUS=1 .... -v shows lots of problems and eventually the system hangs.

    Some progress!

    Retail is the hardest way.
There was a guide, but it got lost plus the boot-132 disc was uploaded them swiftly removed so nobody could say if it worked or not.
Never got a working boot 132 disc on my AAO sadly

    I agree.

Alternative the iAtkos v5 is pretty good as well.

If you want wifi to work you need to have a Dell 1390 wifi card not the defualt card that comes with the AAO.

Do I understand right that you are trying to load on a 110 not 150 ?
I think its possible but I'm not sure if you wil ever get teh best out of the machine.

    I now have a working A110 (8GB SSD) with 10.5.6 - thank you iPC!

However, no sound! I've missed something obviously ... any ideas? FIXED!

The whole machine is slow. I'm hoping that a real HDD and more memory will sort it. Spotlight maybe? Can it be switched off?

So, proof of concept is YES! Now I'll invest in the memory, disk and Wireless card. ORDERED!

So, thanks for the help so far - only a few problems left: sometimes need to boot with '-f' to avoid kp and still no battery charge in spite of 3309 BIOS

    Kind Regards

    Hugh

Done it! 10.5 running from Retail DVD! It can be done by a noob given good, clear instructions and a degree of common sense and logic.

However, getting it to boot .... not there yet 8-( Fixed! BOOTLOADER as partition + chameleon

Now to check out sound and screen res. Screen res fixed! Sound fixed!
