I'm looking into buying Acer Aspire One AOA150-1049. i had a few quick questions. my first concern is that i went to BestBuy because they carry some other acer products, but the only ones they had were the eeepc's and what i noticed on those is that in order to see the top or bottom of the screen you have to put the mouse to the top or bottom to see either the xp taskbar or the top where my computer is. i dont know if this is because of the resolution or if its just the cheap eeepc model. and i was also wondering if there are any other things that i should be looking at. thank you for your help.

I happened to be in Walmart getting something else and saw the AA1 there. My tech guy had suggested one previously (I just wanted something small for email and the web when I was on the road) so I bought it there. $348. I like it a lot except for the squirly mouse pad and the buttons are too close to the pad itself but other than that it's fun. I use Skype also and its nice to have the built in camera and mic. Works fine.

I'm not sure about the Eee PCs, but I suspect that if it is XP you are speaking of, those are settings that can be configured to appear as you like (autohide taskbar by right clicking it and selecting properties/autohide). I believe that the Eee PC that Best Buy is carrying is a slightly older model but you can also observe the difficult position of the right shift key that is on the 1000H as well.

Wal Mart seems to be carrying the Acer One XP Home model, with 1 gig memory, and 120 gig hard-drive. I have been in two different stores recently and they both had only this model--- ???

Costco and Office Depot are also carrying the 120 Gig, 3 cell battery model only (sapphire). I believe the overall best source at the moment for the 160Gig 6cell XP version in the U.S. is at Amazon.

i didnt mean to hide the task bar. i meant that the resolution on the screen was too large for the screen so in order to see the top or bottom you need to put the cursor up to the top or down to the task bar, and i was just wondering if anyone who has the Acer Aspire One AOA150-1049 does this also.

Yes, either it is a forced resolution size (1024 X 768) or the proper graphic driver isn't installed. I don't have this problem with my AAO harddrive edition, which came with Linux but installed XP over it.

That is where I got mine. My Wal-Mart has a display for the 120 gig unit. I asked if they would be getting any 160 gig's in and all I got was a blank stare. On the plus side I ordered it on a Sat. and it was delivered on Tuesday.
