Is there a particular reason why you want Ubuntu? Mandriva 2009 works great, almost all the hardware is detected, suspend/resume works, etc.

Did the "latest update" update the kernel? If so, see here in the wiki.

Note especially the last section in the wireless section:
Did you try that? If so, what happened?

I don't have a 3G modem (3g is too expensive in the US), but from what I was reading, Mandriva has 3G support. Just give it a try, can't hurt too much.

Pretty sure the kernel was updated in the last patch. You could boot with your old kernel ;).

Yes will boot fine on the old kernel with wifi etc, so must be a kernel problem somewhere. Will not boot on new kernel though stops and far right "A" lock light comes on?

Odd, I just rebooted after updating my system, and after rebuilding madwifi everything works like before.

What did you mean by "tried to reinstall as I did before following the advice on the forums but with no effect"?

At what point during the boot process does it stop? Pass the "nosplash" param to the kernel when booting. You could also use "noquiet" to get even more information.

    Same problem.
After update the kernel the wifi was lost. I put the comands

    make clean
    make
    sudo make install

It looks to work with no problem. After I check the Harware controllers to be sure there's no one running and restart the AAO. But I cannot connect to my network. Any suggestion?
