Madriva 2009 Spring is now out! downloading, does anyone tried to install it on AA1 using USB?
I couldn't found a kit (http://lordikc.free.fr/wordpress/?page_id=158) for the final version. If you have any idea let us know ... Grtz
There is a tool called Mandriva-seed, both windows and linux. it can be downloaded on http://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Li ... so/2009.1/, however, I can't download it now, it shows 403-Forbidden and I am asking this on Mandriva Forum. I will return if I got any news
Installed it from CD, but there now are img-files as well, which can be put on a bootable usb stick, the description is in the mandriva wiki I believe. Cheers, thoza
o the one on mandriva wiki is not talking about installing from USB, but install from other source, by booting a USB, what I am looking for, Mandriva-seed, I am still looking for it...
I've just finished installing Mandriva Spring - carried out the process as a system upgrade from within Mandriva 2009.0. All went well I used Macles excellent backup utility first, but as I said everything went smoothly. It took ages though, I guess because of the slow write speed of the SSD (nearly 7 hours!) but it got there.
mandriva-seed script works (Thanks Steven ...) I could boot from usb and get to the live session (tried gnome). Wifi works I didn't install it yet, I'll check further before installing (I need to see if the kernel module for the fan control can be installed).
I have been running Mandriva spring rc1 and I have heard that when spring comes out we will be able to just do an update and have the new Spring version. I have kept up all the upgrades and was wondering how I could find out if I now have Mandriva 2009 Spring or Mandriva 2009 Spring rc1?
Good news, http://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Li ... so/2009.1/ I was able to download from this server now! the linux one is working, windows one is not working download the file mandriva-seed.sh run it as root, (by su in terminal)
installed, even better support, headphone is now working, no need to manually disable the speaker. Microphone working out of box, the only thing not working is cardreader, works after tweak. boot is fast, less than 30s!
It takes far longer on mine (120 gb hardisk 150L), about a minute or so. No change vs 2009.0 Cheers, thoza
1) I feel real stupid but when you say it pushes the Mandriva ISO on the USB does that mean it installs a Mandriva ISO on to a USB stick/disk to be run as a Live version from the USB stick/drive? 2) Or does it mean it installs the Mandriva ISO on the USB stick/disk to a different drive?
after pushing the ISO into the USB disk, the usb will become bootable, and everything is just like a Live CD, of cause, you can install it on HD, same way as on the CD
