After a harrowing adventure in upgrading the ram in my A110, I can report that Kingston KVR667D2S0/1GR (1 Gb) works fine.

    works

    "DDR2 PC-4300 1Gb 200 pin 533MHz SODIMM (128x64)"
'Tech Guys' branded memory from Currys (UK). £39.99

Seems to work fine so far (posting via wireless from my One).

Ironically I saw the One Saphire at Currys for £199 - £50 cheaper 7 days ago when I bought this one.

I used Buffalo PC2-5300 1Gb model: D2N667C-1G/BR worked perfectly for me on the first try. I cheated and used this video as a resource. http://qik.com/video/161904

Using Kingston KVR533D2S4/512 512 MB upgrade to 1 GB total RAM. Works like a charm, save the PITA process of doing the actual disassembly/upgrade.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

My upgrade went fine, aside from the leftmost keyboard clip. In my haste I pushed it too far back, and now it's hiding behind the blue bezel. It also happened for the rightmost one, but I was able to fix it with some screwdriver manoeuvring. I can't get the one on the left because it sits under the LEDs :(. In any case, the KB sits in there fine so there's no real issue - I'm just annoyed at myself for being too rough.

My Corsair 1gb 667 works fine :). Performance is much better with firefox and remote desktop, but it still suffers from pauses (8GB SSD, WinXP SP3).

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

just upgraded my RAM on the AAO 521MB/8GB SSD. It works fine. Bios and tinyXP give the proper RAM of the system.

I upgraded (like many here) with a 1GB stick of Kingston KVR533D2C4/1G.

My thanks to everyone before me who upgraded with this one!

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

I'm sorry to report that a 512MB SIS module, "DDR II 512MB-667 SSX264M8-J6E", didn't work here. The One wouldn't post, only black screen and fan running. :(

The module came from an eeePC 701, and others have reported it worked but it didn't for me. I don't understand why. It's not my first SO-DIMM chip, so I know how to install them and I honestly don't think I made a mistake there. Go figure.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

Could you please report the exact reference of the chip, please, as my own upgrade with a 512MB module from an eeePC failed miserably.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

There are basically no reason why a DDR2 ram wouldn't work in Acer aspire one other than the reason below:

    1) It's defective
    2) It's partially defective
    3) It's contacts are dirty or contaminated with your finger oil
    4) It's more than 1GB
    5) The memory is so new that it's single banked ram with only 1 memory chip on it.

Works with Infineon 1GB 667MHz PC5300 module taken from an HP 6910 laptop.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

To those who first installed a module that didn't work: did you find one that worked, or is your RAM slot faulty ?

I find it puzzling that someone else installed a module from an eeePC like I did and it worked for him but not for me... :?
