The speed should not matter, but the size definitely does. I don't know if there is anything you can do except look for a way to sell/trade it.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

If it fits and IF the ram has 533 677 mapped on it then it might work else no.
Thats how most of the 677 work they have 533 mapped on them also as a downclock speed.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

    I have an AA1 (ZG5)

    I picked a Corsair 1G (DDR2 - 533 - PC2-4200) module. I could not turn it on.
Tomorrow, I go back to replace the module with the PC2-5300 just like the original Samsung (512M) is.

    Details later...

    I ordered "Corsair 1 GB 533 MHz PC2-4200"..
Got it today by mail and installed it .. Works perfectly for me.. Vista is just as fast as on my ordinary laptop.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

A friend of mine gave me another 512MB SIS module (DDR II 512MB-667 SSX264M8-J6E) and I'm happy to report it works just fine. So the previous one was definitely faulty.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

I had the Aspire One (120Gb Linux version - but I've installed Vista Premium) for a little while, and I've just upgraded to 1.5GB.

    I used a Crucial 1GB PC4200 SODIMM (CT868497) - I used the memoery selector on the site.

Its very working well. Vista is so much more responsive with enough memory! £11.74 delivered so I'm not complaining!

Deconstructing the laptop went OK - for anyone going to try it definately have a good way of remembering where the screws go... there are a lot! I needed quite a big selection of screw drivers, as all the heads seemed slightly different. They also seem to strip very easily!

I was a little rough removing the touchpad ribbon cable, and it didn't work when I first booted up  Luckily it just wasn't seated in the connector properly :)

    Cheers

    Richard

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

I've recently bought an Aspire One 150.. I upgraded the ram from 1gb to 1.5gb which is the specified max upgrade for ram. I used a UMAX brand 1gb 667mhz ram and it works without any problems.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

sorry to ask, but can't find a reply: what voltage?
the guide to install ram (viewtopic.php?f=40&t=635) states 1.5v
most of the available memories on the market are 1.8v, and this thread seems to talk about 1.8v. but there are some rare 1.5v's available.
also "guaranteed" memory expansion on the crucial store, as referred by someone, is 1.8v.
    can anybody clarify?
    thx

Most of the ram that ppl use are 1.8
Most of the time faster ram takes more voltage.
The Differences in battery life are minimal.
And besides most ram sockets are +/-0.3v
He jsut happened to be able to get a 533 at 1.5v
You find more 533 at 1.5v than you find 667 at 1.5v
