extra 0.5 makes nice difference, this is my RAM

    I used Crucial.com's standard PC2 5300 DDR2 SODIMM - here's the link to the product I am talking about:
    http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs ... 47A5CA7304
    works ok, no probs

The extra 512 makes a noticeable difference, graphics in Counter Strike 1.6 seem smoother

    good luck,
    Hans

I bought a 1 GB stick from Walmart and it works fine. Unfortunately, I can't remember the brand name. But they probably all carry the same one.

Does it matter which AA1 model you have?

I have the 512/8gb ssh, and Id like to get the above mentioned Corsair ValueSelect ram, but Id like to make sure its compatible with my specific model.

This is what Im looking to get:

    Thank you so much! :D

    hiya,

I've searched the thread and can't find a mention of this particular RAM. Any thoughts on if it will work in an A150?

Took a 1 gb stick of Nanya DDR2-667 (PC2-5300), part # NT1GT64U8HB0BN-3C out of my Dell M1730 and it works like a charm! 100%

threw a new 2gb stick in the 1730 and killed two birds with one stone :D

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

Okay, after reading this thread, I have a couple questions. I have the ADA 150-1777 ZG5 blue with 160GB hard drive, XP.

Does anyone else have this specific model, or know what DDR # I should be looking for? Any recommendations for places to purchase?

I understand that the maximum RAM is 1.5 GB. Since I have 1 GB, I would guess that there is one slot open, and for that I buy a 512MB card, am I correct?

    Thanks in advance!

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

    I tried this from Crucial:

    1GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 memory module
    CT868498
    Module Size: 1GB
    Package: 200-pin SODIMM
    Feature: DDR2 PC2-5300
    Specs: DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 128Meg x 64 •

And the system is still reporting 512mb, any thoughts anyone? I installed it carefully and checked that the DIMM was firmly seated.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

Today I was looking for a 1GB module of 533 or 667 MHz DDR2 SODIMM ram for my aspire 110 that has only 512 MB of ram and 8 GB SSD intel (the worst one :) ).
I didn't find a module in the whole city; at last shop I found a module at 800 MHz and I picked it. I suspected it doesn't work, but when I opened my aspire one and put it in and reassemplated as a magic my systyem started ad viewed it, so now I have 1.5GB of RAM, I'm happy, all is gone fine.

The module is a Kingston 1GB PC2-6400 CL5 200pin SODIMM and the code is KVR800D2S5/1G

So if you find it you can use, it Work, at least for me... :)

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

Has anyone actually looked at the speed of the on board RAM? I have SiSoftware Sandra reporting that the on board RAM is only running at 533MHZ? It claims to be a Hyundai PC24200 chip, has anyone else noticed this? I've read conflicting stories as to the actual speed of the FSB but I would think this particular model would be the higher of the two since it's manufacture date is 11/08.

Re: RAM. What Works, What Doesn't

Upgraded Friday night. Took about 45 minutes; would have been quicker, but my ex called me in the middle of the install.

    The RAM I used was: Kingston 1GB 667mhz (KVR667d2SO/1GR)

Picked it up for $12.98 (USD) from Amazon.

Everything is working great. Upgrade without a hitch...

i just installed a 1gb stick that was left over from a Dell D620 upgrade. Samsung 1GB 2Rx8 PC2-5300s-555-12-e3. Works perfectly. Install was very simple, I've taken apart a lot of laptops and this was by far the easiest.

    Samsung
    1024MB DDR2
    PC2-5300 (333 MHZ)
    Part # M4 70T2953EZ3-CE6

    Stolen from my IBM r61i

    Seems to work fine.

Was a nerve racking experience. Wouldn't want to do it on a regular basis.
I did check to see if it would boot up before installed the keyboard and mouse, and replaced the screws.
Glad it's over. A little over an hour.
