Microphone not working

Acer one , 8gig with Linpus.
The microphone is not working on the webcam or Skype.
I have put the sound on max in the Audio setting.

Where do i go next please?

Uninstall and reinstall the driver is what I would try next, however, I am running 160GB XP machine, not sure about Linux. If that does not work, call Acer, it may be broken and you should be within your years warranty.

The webcam application doesn't do sound, so it won't work there!

How have you got the device set up in Skype?

 

Hello all,
I'm new to the forum. My mic doesn't work with the webcam program either. I called Acer and they said the standard webcam program shipped with the Aspire One doesn't record sound. Does anyone know if there is a webcam/mic driver out there that I can download which records audio and video together?

OK, got it working now, a couple of restarts late and jiggle "ext mic/int mic " controls.
Still got to get the mic going with the webcam though.

any ideas please.

As I said, the loaded webcam utility doesn't do sound. Some people find that using 'cheese' instead works.

 

I am almost sure that my webcam did record sound. I have not tried in the last three to four weeks and I think that my downloading skype or vlc or updates that it has stopped working. Has anyone also noticed that this may have been a possibility?
