Hello fellas, i just bought a nice Acer Aspire One for my wife, Installed leopard today and its working really good for her. I experimented a little bit with it and wanted to share some bits with all of you guys, perhaps they are not haaaat interesting but in the search for the -100% AAO- anything might help, right?

First of all, I tried to install a 100% vanilla system using the 132 Boot method with the generic.iso boot CD. (Already installed a couple of hackintoshes with this cd and works a treat!) but with the AAO it just didnt work. The error it gave me was "Image checksum error, sorry Boot failed: press any key to retry." Anyone with a little bit of experience on linux bootloaders knows why this is actually happening? I have readed a zillion of forums regarding this issue and it seems to be related to the Bios.. I have got this error in the past and updating the bios did not seem to fix the problem.. so perhaps its something else? You guys should give it a try and posts your results over here.

Using this method we can create an specific AAO Boot-cd and install a 100% Vanilla installation from the retail DVD. the good thing is that kexts are externally loaded and updating the OS will be much damn easier!.. My wife wouldnt like to deal with bricked leopard installation, trust me.

    Anyways...

Downloaded iATKOS and installed it, worked fine.. and since i have a little bit of experience with other hacks i didnt really follow the guide step by step. I tried to avoid installing Paul's drivers as much as possible and see if i could get sleep to work (some guy in these forums reported that he actually got sleep working on a fresh iatkos install but got broke after installing some kexts) but it seems that i wasnt lucky enuf'.

    Miguel's method

Iatkos installation: Main system only with the speedstep patch.

For the Graphic drivers i first installed the Darwin950 Kexts from: (http://code.google.com/p/darwin950/) (0x27ae, download that one) then installed Superhai's clamshell.kext (http://www.superhai.com/files/ClamshellDisplay.kext.zip) all of this using the amazing Kext Helper, Rebooted.

For Ethernet i used the modified realtek driver by the folks @ psystar (http://www.psystar.com/realtek_r1000_driver.html) and installed it again with kext helper. Rebooted.

To get the audio working I used this: http://rapidshare.com/files/126062908/ALC268FIX.zip (from SbM's guide) to fix my audio. I used the first installer, deleted /System/Library/Extensions/ALCInject.kext then used kext helper to install HDAEnabler.kext. I didnt install HDAFixv3 and yet my system is still working great with no kernel panics at shutdown or whatsover.

Reboted and finally installed Macgirl's modified ApplePS2Keyboard.kext (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php? ... 95568&st=0).. I just downloaded it and installed it with Kext helper, and I got my ISO keyboard fully working.

Everything worked great.. Except for the damn wifi card.. To solve the problem I just Bought a cheap Wusb54gc USB adapter from lynksys and installed it with the official drivers + 1 modified kext. (If anyone wants to know more about this just ask)

Now i want to get sleep working too.

    A couple of Ideas:

1 I was thinking about installing these kexts (http://www.superhai.com/files/EHCISleepEnabler.kext.zip) (BTW be sure to check the readme.txt located here: http://superhai.com/EHCISleepEnabler.readme.html) and (http://www.superhai.com/files/ClamshellDisplay.kext.zip) That seemed to fix sleep for the lenovo S10.

2 Try a different AppleSMBIOS: Macdotub version: http://my.macdotnub.info/content/view/22/26/ or netkas flava' : http://netkas.org/?p=58 (that solved the sleep issue on my old D945GCNL hack) If anyone want to give this a spin in combination of the first idea it might actually work!

And now.. Im dying to try one of these methods to get sleep working.. Ill give this a spin later.. If anyone else wants to give it a try and report back it would be awesome.

Cheers! (btw sorry for my bad english :p)

I played with #1 yesterday and couldn't get sleep to work. In fact, the OS would crash some random time after booting up. I was using a 9.2.0 sleep kernel. It might be worth trying with a newer kernel or the upcoming Voodoo kernel.

And your English is quite good - better than many native English speakers on the internet!

Great work, Miguel! I'll probably try your install method later next week. Hopefully, with some help from you experts (I'm thinking of dfiore too and others), we might actually get a 100% working Mac OS X installation procedure for the One, which would be absolutely BRILLIANT ;)

Interesting, i managed to get the AAO to actually sleep with those kexts, it turned off the fans quite gently and the power button started to blink, just like a real mac! The problem was actually waking it up, it goes on but the display gets stuck and had to restart.. Installed another applesmbios kext to see if that solved the problem and it bricked my installation. Now my wife is really mad at me, so i guess this is the end of Miguel's experiments for now until i get a testing unit :p

Also.. i think i might be able to actually come up with a solution for the audio if those tutorials popping at insanelymac work. But thats all for now.

Leopard runs so damn smooth on these machines. :)

Guys use this installer to install the GMA950 drivers, they seem to work wonderfully!

edit: Just noticed some tearing using this package.. But im gonna test them further to see if they are bareable, i want my system to be as vanilla as possible!

i have been booting my aspire from an efi partition with a retail install for the last few days. i cannot get my modded drivers http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=128862 working from there. Seems there is a dependency issue.

the sleep issue is directly related to graphics issues, if we can get the graphics to work sleep will work.

the audio can be fixed with proper patching, im working with stickpin on alc889 (my desktop) once thats done on to sound on this.

for the card reader, a driver just needs to be made, we can see the pci express card and that theres something attched, there just nothing to handle the I/O.

if anyone wants my efi partition stuff just let me know.

Update: I found what crashed my system. The damn HDA FIX v3.. It totally bricked my installation again. solution: Safe mode, then uninstall the "fix" :p

Dave how did you do it? using th 132boot on a usb stick? I wanna give this method a try.. Also i checked insanelymac and found that the graphics driver did not fix the sleep issue. DAMN. Well.. Last resource, i readed somewhere that sleep issues were related to the AppleACPI.kext... I think Superhai wrote that, i cant remember.. so perhaps we can try with a different ACPI files? Im out of ideas, really. BTW, did you used Superhai's kexts? (Clamshelldisplay, EHCISleepEnabler and ACPIBattery kexts?) Which AppleSMBIOS did you use?

i use superhais acpibattery, a modded acpiplatform (not sure where from), psystars realtekr1000, stock smbios, with smbiosresolver, my modded framebuffer / gma950. I have just gotten video to work from efi partition, am now hoping to get full sound support, then sleep and ill be happy.

my method is simply munkys efi partition, vanilla install with my kexts above its super simple and works really well.

im currently using voodoo_beta kernel in testing but can use vanilla as well. they both seem comparable, but voodoo works much better with speed step and seems a hair faster.

i really would love full audo support (hot switching, mic in) and sleep. Its getting there...

let me know if you want to try out my mkext.

What kexts did you use on your efi partition? Whenever I get to the OS X installer I can't input anything (much like what happened when I upgraded to 10.5.5).

    I have the following:

and it doesn't work. Am I missing something?
