Hi, I have a AAO with 16gb SSD running the Linpus OS. Despite having very little installed and no documents, music, pictures or videos stored (I only use for web) my available space is 9.4gb. Where has all the space gone?

I have cleared my Firefox cache, the trash, removed language packs from Open Office, removed the pre-installed games. I do not have Thunderbird installed. have trawled through all the folders and have not found any large records.

I have listed the "installed packages over 100mb" and these total c.2.4gb so more than 4gb is being used by something.

Is the Linpus install really taking that much space? Any ideas? Thanks

    hi there,

have you checked that the drive is not partitioned? also have you checked the total available space actually adds up to 16gb? not sure about ssd drives but i know normal drives don't have the full space available in the first place!

worth a check before you go looking for space that isn't there.

    Thanks

I can't see a partition and I have not made one, so I don't think that is the cause.

I guess that is part of my question...The system says the SSD capacity is 16gb. How much space should the Linpus OS be taking up? Is it as much as 4gb because that sees a lot for a "lite" OS... How can I check what else might be using the space?

    Hi,
there'll be a 1gig swap partition, also, bear in mind that the 8 gig ssd version starts with about 3,5gig space! if you really want to check the partitions then I would create a bootable (linux) pen drive and install gparted as in this post...

    Hope its of use
