As the batteries are scarce and very expensive, and the cheap Maplins battery laptop chargers are discontinued I've been looking for an alternative.

I'd prefer to spend money on this type of device due to flexibility with mobiles, MP3 players, etc.

    Looking at the following :-

The Ted Baker Charging Kit from Proporta

    http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.ph ... t_mode=des

Obvious questions, which I am hoping someone on her can answer are :-

    1. Does any of the Aspire One USB ports allow you to charge the device?
    2. Would this device charge the Aspire One, via the DC connector, with a suitable adaptor (would any of the included adpators work?)
    3. Otherwsise, with a suitable DC adaptor, would this device technically be able to charge the Aspire?

    1. None of the Aspire USB ports charges the battery apart from the dedicated DC connector...
    2. This device is only 5V/700mAh - that means is not strong enough to supply power to AA1 - Netbook require 16V or 19V...
    3. No - it's to weak. I believe the main purpose of this battery is to charge mobile phones battery...

If you need extra power for your AA1 probably you need something like that: http://www.laptopbattery-inc.co.uk/univ ... 4ibkb2ag53

There is also Youtube clip showing this battery in action. Here you go:

Thanks for that, but too expensive for me. The alternative is just to buy a cheap replacement battery as a spare I think.

It's very big, and I think the case I've ordered won't fit with that.

I'd prefer to just buy a replacement to the battery it ships with as a spare.

Is there a reasonably cheap source for these at the £30 mark?
