I have a USB Hard drive which was formatted via Windows. Plugging it into the AA1 doesn't simply make it work like a USB Thumb Drive or SD card would. You'll get an error saying "can't mount ntfs" if you try.

I've entered it in my blog but I thought I'd post up here how to do it if anyone else uses a notebook drive like I do for some portable storage.

    t’s relatively easy to do.

Make sure your USB HDD drive is not plugged in.
Open terminal and login to root.
Login to root by typing “su -”, then you’ll be asked for the password.
This is the password you entered when you first logged into the netbook to set it up.
Then type “yum install ntfs-3g” and reboot.
Put your drive back in the USB port and access it going to My Files in the menu.

Now you can use your USB HDD for storage and expansion.

Have been trying to use my ipod as external hd, but it does not work. The ipod is beeing used with a mac, so it's got their filesystem. Any ideas?

Linpus doesn't support ntfs natively. go to the add/remove programs and type ntfs into the search bar. You'll see the app that allows ntfs file systems. Better to just format your USB in fat format.
