    Hi All,

Would someone explain to a Linux novice how to mount an external hard drive formatted in HFS+ (WD My Passport Studio) on Linpus Linux AAO? I searched this forum and google. I found some discussions for other formats but not on HFS+. I tried some commands anyway but not sure what I'm doing, and none of them seems to work.

Would it be easier if I reformat the drive with a different system? My desktop computer is a Mac so it would be nice to be able to use it on both.

    TIA

FAT32 is understood by Linux/Windows/OSX. Maximum file size is 4GB though, so you may come unstuck if you want to save huge files like DVD ISO images (4.7GB+).

You can reformat the Passport as FAT32 on your iMac.

Thanks for your quick reply. I will try reformatting it to FAT32.

NTFS support is also available for Linux and OSX. Read-only access is fairly reliable but write access is still somewhat "experimental".

I just finished reformatting the hard drive in FAT32 (picked Erase and MS-DOS in Disk Utility), and once I plugged it in my AAO recognized it automatically. I moved some photos to the drive and it's working great! Thank you very much for your help, ronime!
