I've been doing the '10 tweaks' from the article the aa1 usergroup links to. Most of it has worked, but I'm having trouble mounting my NAS box. In the terminal window I get 'mount error 6 = No such device or address'.

I googled this and got to this page:

    http://smb4k.berlios.de/handbook/troubl ... nting.html

    Which, I think, tells me:
"Special characters (accents, umlauts, etc.) are not displayed correctly."
    and:
"Make sure the following options are set to the correct values in the [global] section of the smb.conf(5) of each Samba server and client:" .....

While this advice may well be correct, I wouldn't know how to do it.

I tried renaming my NAS box so it had no unusual characters; same thing.

By the way, the NAS is a linkstation LS-GL F/W 1.11. The other lapotops (xp) find it no problem

    any ideas?

    Thanks

smb.conf is usually found in /etc/samba

I'm not on the Aspire One now to check this out.

    Cheers.
