To be fair, I think this may be a WinXP problem, NOT an Aspire One problem, but it's simply an annoying issue!

Every time I boot up, I have to adjust my mouse settings.... specifically, the pointer speed, and I always check "Enhance Pointer Precision"- and it does not stay! I have to do this over and over- it always resets to the default settings on reboot. Is there anything I can do to make it keep its settings, the settings I prefer?

If this is the wrong place, could someone steer me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

No word on what brand mouse you're using or whether you've installed some alternative (e.g. Logitech) mouse software. Your problem seems to be with the Control Panel/Mouse/Motion adjustments - do all the other adjustments in that dialog (e.g. "snap to") fail as well? I'm using a Logitech mouse with the regular XP settings, no problem but did not install the software from the Logitech CD, but just let XP "identify" the hardware. If I had installed its software, I'd be using Logitech's dialog for mouse settings.

    Hey, thank you!
    You solved my problem!
I had installed the Logitech SetPoint software and once I uninstalled it, it was fixed. I rebooted and it saved my settings where I want them! I'm no longer using the Logitech mouse on my Aspire One now; I'm using a different external mouse now anyway, one that uses the Windows settings.

Just to answer your questions, those two settings were the only ones that did not remain in place when I rebooted. "Snap-To" and the others seemed fine both before and after.
    Thanks again!
    :)

Glad it's working. The Logitech software isn't bad, but I recall some problems years ago when switching mice on a machine and prefer to run everything on the MS basic.

    I only installed it for the side-to-side scrolling feature, to tell you the truth;
I thought that might be useful on my Aspire One.
It annoyed me because it tried to install some silly toolbar on the sly as well.

    By the way...
What IS it with all these toolbars, anyway? I work for a local ISP... One time
I went to a customer's house because she was complaining that their internet
was running too slow, and all our checking found nothing wrong on our end.
When I saw this lady's computer, I was aghast; she had so many toolbars
installed it took up well over one-third of the web browser viewing area!
I mean she had AVG, Yahoo, Google, Ask, something from a weather site,
and a couple of shopping toolbars! Maybe even more; I lost count at 6.

I asked her if she really used them all and she said, why no, she just clicked
on yes to install them because she thought she was supposed to! This lady
was sweet, about my age (50+) and a total innocent, computer-wise.

I got rid of all but I think one, and hey, her internet ran a lot faster!

(Sorry, that was a little off-topic, wasn't it... no, wait! I can save it!
Zillions of gratuitous toolbars take up too much room and resources too,
    especiallyon an Acer AspireOne!)
    ;)
