I've just bought an mpeg4 recorder to record tv programs onto an SD card. However when I try and player the videos in Mplayer I get a codex error and the videos won't play. The same videos will play in the windows version of mplayer, on my psp and mobile. Has anyone got any suggestions of possible solutions? Is there another player I could download?
    Thanks

I am sure there is an answer on this web site somewhere but I do not know where. I also want to view mpeg4 on my aspire one. I hope someone responds with a good solution.
Does anyone know why acer did not provide an mpeg4 codec? For me, mpeg4 is the most common video format.

    The post at
    viewtopic.php?f=5&t=383&p=10080&hilit=update+mplayer#p10080
    did not work for me.
Error: Missing Dependency: libpulse.so.0(PULSE_0) is needed by package mplayer
Error: Missing Dependency: libdvdnavmini.so.4 is needed by package mplayer.
That post must have some missing details.

I suggest going with the VLC installation. It does mpeg4 just fine.

You need to find those files via google and download them. (libpulse.so.0 and libdvdnavmini.so.4 and whatever file you're missing. They should have an extension of rpm. After you've downloaded a file, I think you have to option to 'open' them. Open them; This should register into the system. Then try reinstalling vlc again.
