The wifi switch on the right front has the ability to shut off the card and make troubleshooting a pain.

@chokchai, I noticed that my wifi problems stopped after I got the 9 cell battery. How could this be? Well, the battery is too tall and my machine stands up off the desk allowing better ventilation. It turns out the wifi problems are often related to temperature. You can either change the setpoints of acerfand to have the fan turn on sooner or remove acerfand completely and let your fan run all the time. Either of these approaches might reward you with wifi that never quits again. I have not installed the sickboy kernel (yet) but my wifi works fine with the ath5k drivers. I have the 160 gig AAO.
