Yeah, it's actually hot. I installed Windows XP some months ago (almost a year) and now that I am using the CPU at 100% the laptop temperature is so high.

I never noticed it was high before because I barely used it for hard processing sequences but now that I am programming some C# stuff it gets so hot.

I tested the AA1Control Fan software (http://www.computentsystems.de/aceraspi ... ontrol.zip) but it doesn't work. At first it shows the cpu temperature and then I ask it to turn the fan on by setting it at 60°, but then the laptop suddenly turns down.

I also used another fan software (a1ctl I think was its name) but it also failed to work.

    My laptop current status is:
    BIOS version v0.3308
    date 10/06/2008
    product AOA110
    version 1
    OS Windows XP SP2
Drivers: Every driver installed but Battery management

I would like to turn on the fan but no software I know has worked. Any advices? Thanks.

    I tested again A1CTL by Noda. http://nodadev.wordpress.com/pc-projects/a1ctl/

It seems that the program (version 0.4) does not work on my aspire one. My model is AOA110-1633 with bios 3308 and windows xp sp2 installed on a SSD 8GB.

After running the program and selecting different options the fan speed is not affected by any of them. The FAN OFF option does not turn it off and there is no speed change after modifying the slow or auto modes. I have clicked the patch acpiec button but there was no change.

I need the fan to be faster because my laptop is so hot, but no option makes it change its speed.

I’ve read some comments that say they can see the current temperature, but I don’t find that temperature; if I hover the mouse over the tray icon it doesn’t show anything.

    Thanks for any advice.

I would recommend you try to update the Bios to either 3309 or the same 3308.

If you can not get a display of CPU temperature after that, I would think you have a hardware failure of the temp sensor.

I updated to 3309 and there was no change.

The program started working after UNPATCHING the acpi file. Now it does control the fan and it shows the current temperature and battery status.

The program says it is better to patch the acpi file but actually it is not.
