My wife's Lenovo laptop is reluctant to turn on

    My wife's laptop is unpredictable when switching on. Often gets a blank screen for several hours the suddenly will come on. . Sometimes though it turns on immediately. I've done all the obvious tricks, disconnecting from power and removing battery, holding the on button for 30 seconds etc. When it runs it works well but its' unpredictability is annoying.
    It's a few years old but when it comes on it works fine. my wife is reluctant to get a new one.
    Can anybody suggest a solution? Any suggestions welcome.
