I have my AA1 (Linux version) attached to my wireless network along with other devices such as 2 Vista laptops, Squeezebox etc. On my D-Link router the devices show up under the names I originally gave them eg Laptop 1, Laptop 2, Squeezebox 1 etc but the AA1 does not have a name attached to it. How do I give my AA1 a name so that I can recognise it without having to check the MAC address is correct every time? Thanks.

I don't have a Linpus version in front of me, but in RH based distros, it's usually done in /etc/sysconfig/network

    For example, add the line

    myacer.mydomain.com
There should also be a line in /etc/hosts that will have some default name.

I also don't know how the Dlink router works--it might require a netbios name which is what it would be getting from the MS machines. If that's the case, you'd have to install samba and run the nmbd daemon. (And possibly the smbd daemon.)
