need help installing grip

hi everyone

I'm trying to install grip but every time I've tried I run into issues
after I goto the repository I find grip and load it, during the install
it asks if I what to load the keys, I agree and continue. after every thing
seems to load I get back to the desk top and when I roll over the back or more
icons with my cursor, in each category (fun, work, connect etc) the
triangular icon disappears. I then reboot and the screen is 80-90 percent
blacked out I can only see a small part of the desktop background, the
task bar (windows term) and the power downbutton. I've reinstalled lipus
4 time already this is getting to me :evil: . any help would be greatly appreciated
