Hi there, a total newb here and I'm hoping some of your cumulative experience will be useful.

I have a MacBook Pro I use with a projector for displaying movies as I travel around to various theaters and community centers. But I am looking at getting something smaller/more portable. I'm considering buying a used Acer Aspire One but I'd like to hear your thoughts on using netbooks with projectors.

Can the video card handle exporting higher rez video to the projector? Any trouble with the VGA ports failing?

    Thanks for your feedback.

Had an Acer netbook for awhile and never had a problem with the VGA port. You have to check the specs on the notebook you are looking at because the video card may be able to put out more than the screen puts out. Also, most projectors have pretty low resolution so you may not need very much rez at the computer. Got rid of the Acer because it was too slow, not because it was problematic. Finally, many new computers now have HDMI ports - just something to think about.

    Thanks for the reply, Ziggy.

My experience is projectors are all over the map. Ill use my projector sometimes, other times ill be using venues which are often have very hi rez. and yes, I worry the laptop itself wont be able to keep up with large vids. its been a prob with other, older laptops.
