Why would anyone run the new 3211 BIOS upgrade if they had a working system? And if they didn't have a working system, why would they think this upgrade will cure their non-working computer.

I for one am almost always first in line to upgrade software/firmware, but messing around with BIOS can quickly brick your system if you don't know what you doing or your computer loses power while doing the BIOS upgrade.

I just don't see any upside for 98% of the Acer users. I'm sticking with 3210 as long as my computer does what I want and thats mainly a travel internet player.

Well, if the system is shutting down by itself, and Acer web site says it can be fixed by updating BIOS...

Anyway, let me provide update. After I complained about the $199 service fee, they accepted my netbook for free service. It arrived to service depot today in the AM...and I already have the Fedex tracking number -- it's on its way back to me! Amazing, isn't it?

I agree if the Acer site says to go for the new BIOS and you're having problems, it can't hurt to give it a try. In my "current" situation, my Acer is working fine and the downside of a bad BIOS update just doesn't appeal to me. Now IF it would make the video run smoother, sign me up.

I think that's up to Intel, which seems to have a single guy working on the drivers of all the GMA drivers for all Windows versions. OT: Isn't Intel already making enough money with their CPU empire? WHY they have to make graphics adapters with crappy drivers that don't work properly?

Great news on new bios performance!!

I'm gonna tell my little story. I got my AO751h with atom z520 processor a week ago. Came with vista. It was horrible. Warcraft framerate was 9fps at low settings. After that I changed to Win7 Home Premium and updated gma 500 drivers. Good improvement. But the biggest change came with this new bios. Specially in the grafics performance. Now warcraft framerate is 18!! In high settings!!! Can you believe it? It's beautiful. This bios changed even the windows evaluation getting better results in aero graf and games graf.

    My first evaluation showed:

    proc 1,9
    ram 4,1
    aero 2,4
    games 2,2
    hd 5,4

After all the updates and changes (specially bios) I got this:

    proc 1,9
    ram 4,2
    aero 4,5
    games 2,6
    hd 5,4

    LOL

They say you upgrade your bios at your own risk, I wasn't sure at the begining and now I'm so happy I did it

My scores before and after the Bios update are exactly equal, and as follows:
    cpu 1,9
    ram 4,2
    aero 2,9
    games 2,6
    hd 5,5
My hd is a 320 gb Western Digital Scorpio blue, not the stock one, so that's why it's 0,1 better.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, with the latest Intel drivers (8.14.10.2020, released on 02/19/2010). How did you exactly hack your 751 to get those results in games and aero?

Where did you get the drivers from? On the intel site they are still old versions! Thanks.

What's new with it? Isn't it the same 3211 BIOS we're talking for 4 pages here? :?

Two days without freezing is a not common on my machine. Maybe not the final answer to the problem, but some hope...
And sorry , I misunderstood the request for the GMA driver in the previous post. The joy of working more than an hour without freezing may be ! ;)

Well, I got them from the Intel site...
Go to http://www.intel.com/ , select Intel for business -> Support & Downloads, then in the new page select Graphics -> Laptop graphics controllers -> Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500 -> Download Drivers and Softwares, select your OS and scroll down: there you can download the latest drivers.

Anyway I did a mistake, the driver was released on jan 4th, 2010 and I installed it on feb 19th (Sysinfo tricked me). My apologies...

Well, in order to be able to help you, we need to know what you mean by "bricked my system". Did your 751 freeze during the update?

Yes, my peace froze, but not completely, when i opened bios program, right after it opened, the title bar said "not responding" i waited for about 5 mins, then, i lost my keyboard, i couldn't type anymore.. so i figure since i didn't select anything, i thought it didn't change anything yet, so i closed the program using ctrl-alt-delete. Still without a keyboard, i decided to restart, thats when i got a black screen.....

Have you encountered this problem before?... I didn't know updating the bios inside windows was unstable..

    Any advice?..

Mine did this about 6 months ago in a bios upgrade and I tried various things to fix it. The phoenix bios recovery mode does work in this state, as one of the things I tested was a boot from recovery floppy disk. Although it booted I did not have the correct image file to recover the machine. Unless things have changed then the only solution, I'm afraid, is back to acer for a motherboard replacement.

The recovery mode I am talking about is for the BIOS not a windows/linux/dos ... recovery mode.

Hope you are still covered by the warranty

Since my notebook was freezing some times, I downloaded this BIOS ans installed it.
It went fine until the last steep of the installation, then it took a lot of time... the screen went black... the light flashes from time to time, but any key I press has no effect. The screen won't lit. It's like that for half hour now.
Should I hard reset the computer?

When updating the BIOS,best thing to do is going out of your laptop room for at least 1 hour !
If something wrong happens,at least,it is not your responsability :|

Guys, I installed this bios, the new intel GMA driver 2023 and tested my 751h to reproduce a freeze! The result is: NO FREEZE!! My 751h is completely good now! No more freezes!! I tested a lot and get no freeze!! =D CHEERS!!

    Obs: I'm using win7 ultimate - 32 bits.

    Thanks ACER support!!
