    Hi,
I was given an Acer Spin for Christmas after my old laptop died on me - I only generally use it for the internet, emails and the odd word file, but it seems to be incapable of streaming videos without stopping to buffer every few seconds! The specs for the laptop and wireless are as follows:
    Acer Spin SP113-31
    Intel Celeron CPU N3350 @ 1.10 Ghz
    4 GB Ram
    64 bit operating system,
Network Band 5 Ghz, Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377

These aren't as high specs as my old laptop which had 6gb RAM (HP Pavillion DV6)

So, being pretty computer illiterate, my questions are:
    a) Is the rubbish streaming to do with having 2gb less RAM, something to do with the wireless hardware, or something else? And b)Is there any way of improving it? Surely a brand new computer should be able to stream a few Youtube and Facebook videos?
    Thanks for your help

Welcome to the laptop forums site

4GB RAM should be ample your graphic card chip will be using some of
the ram as you will have a integrated graphic card.

Your problem could well be with the wifi connection try to connect it
direct to the router if it works with the router then you know it's a wifi
    problem.

I have to add that if it has only happened this last week then you
may have been affected by the Meltdown and Spectre patches.

See the articles on the internet listing the affect of these patches.

    Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunatel it doesn't have a socket for connecting the wifi directly so I don't have any way of testing it. I only got the thing for Christmas and didn't use it for the first week really, so would be surprised if it was the Meltdown and Spectre patches you're talking of. I'm tempted to go back to LInux as I was on my old computer as I only really use it for internet and basic things anyway, so wouldn't have to worry about viruses. That probably wouldn't help the streaming though, and I don't want to mess with the computer if taking window 10 off might stop me being able to take it back should I need to.
