SLP2.0 is for vista activation by using the OEM way of activating. You will need a cert (licensing certificate) from acer, and type in an OEM:SLP key for the activation, and you'll be done. trust me, its easy.

    Where ever I'm sent....

Hmmm thats a bit odd then as the Vista Ultimate I installed was the OEM version that came with my Compaq laptop.. It installed and was registered with no problems...........Finally if others wanted a Cert where would they get one from??

    regards
    Andrew

thank you for replying to my question

Thanks for the heads up, kaporalu.

*Went from 3308 to 3309 and back to 3308 because Windows Update server was down, thought it had to do with 3309 Bios and Wifi. Now back at 3309 and happy*.. :)

Tried updating from 3308 to 3309 and seem to have bricked the AAO.

Can't get anything up on the screen at all - just black, and the fan is running, but the speed keeps changing.

Have previously updaetd BIOS twice in the past with out any problem.

    Have 120gb + 1.5gb RAM.

    Any ideas anyone??????

Tried 4 times in the 2 right USB ports and still didn't work - same behaviour with fan changing speed.

Retried, but formatted USB stick as DOS bootable with HP disk utility. Tried in USB port on left & BINGO.....

Back and running. Was a bit worried there.

Gonna stickk with 3308 til it's released on the european acer web site.

Weird, cause I've been using European BIOS updates (Acer) on my North American (Canadian) AA1 150 since 3304 and have had no problems at all. This was my first Australian BIOS update (Acer) and all went smoothly as normal.

*I think European/Americas/Australian is all compatible with English version AA1's, maybe Japan/Asian BIOS's won't work because different language Unicode or something*

    ;)

I am getting a aspire one (160gb, 6 cell model) for christmas. I just saw the box and the bios said v. 3305. Will I be able to upgrade to this bios (3309) without upgrading to the previous ones? I figure I should be able to, but I just wanna check.
    I cant wait!

    YUP! :D
you can even skip from BIOS 3109 to 3309 if you'd have 3109. 3305 is already good, but unless if you have vista, you might want BIOS 3309.

    Yes, the BIOS versions are cumulative (3309 contains 3308 + 3307 + 3305 + 3304)

Cool! I figured so... I have done many bios updates on my other computers so I kinda know what Im doing. I sold me 7" eee pc for this - the 7" eee was ok, but the screen needed to be a little bit bigger. I think this should be pretty good.... Plus the awesome battery life and windows preinstalled is awesome! The keyboard is a big bigger on this so it makes it better too.. Ive always loved acer. This netbook was only $339 and free fedex 2 day shipping on ZipZoomFly.com, which makes it an amazing deal!
I just cant wait for Christmas now!

Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with the BIOS? It sounds like the problem some of us have had with the webcam driver. See this thread.

Can anyone tell me if there's any strong benefit to upgrading the BIOS? I have 3305. Now that everything seems to be working OK, I'm kind of thinking I should leave well enough alone.

Like I said, if you are not going to use vista, or you don't have battery problem, the stay with the current BIOS revision and you'll be fine.
