where do i download this bios? I am from canada, and i go to acer website and can't find any drivers for the aspire one. Can someone help? Anyone know if this fix the fan issue? Many thanks
The fan is a bit more quiet, but it stops the fan "hack" from working. You can also turn down the brightness less low, and thats a shame.
More important, does it fix the black screen? I thought I read someone said it didn't but I can't find that anymore.
OFFICIAL release of AAO v0.3304 is here! http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/ ... 94#results This is the north american site for acer support!!!
does it add something that really helps? these updates from acer only mess up with our notes (fan spin all the time, dead notes, less brightness modes avaliable) :x
Argh!! The fan is noisier than ever before! Unbelievable! I'm gonna downgrade my Bios back to 3114 right now!
I have the XP model and want to know if you update your BIOS does it void your warranty? Also, being a complete n00b, the last time I updated a BIOS in my notebook I did it via the bios itself, well I think I did anyway. Do I have to do this USB bootable stuff for XP, or is that just for linux versions?
nope, but thanks for the link. I don't think I'm having this problem, though. The fan of my One sounds normal, like any other notebook fan. It just bothers me that it is running all the time, no matter how low the cpu temperature is. It feels/sounds like it is running at higher speed, now that the bios is updated. Too bad that the acerfand-script for Linux is no longer working. It was perfect with the old bios. The fan would not run at all, when doing office work or surfing the web. Only if you'd do cpu-intensive stuff like watching videos, the fan would start runnung.
Yes, you need a bootable usb stick for updating the bios, no matter which OS you're running. search the web for "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool". It will let you create a bootable stick. However, it will ask you for some dos-files to copy. They might be on an Windows XP CD or the recovery dvd of the Aspire One. Not sure about that. I copied them off a Win98 CD
