Hello; I just bought the 10" Aspire with XP Windows.
The sales guy tried to sell me on them configuring the computer to operate faster and to take off programs that come with it, for $40 bucks.

    What are they doing?
How do I do it myself?
FYI I own a clean copy of Win XP pro.

    Thanks

basically all they are doing is removing the "bloatware" that comes preinstalled on the machine, like trial version of antivirus programs and anything else loaded. In turn, by doing so it eliminates processes running therefore freeing up more resources(memory) making the system run more streamlined. You can of course do this yourself by uninstalling software you do not wish to run. Save yourself money. Cheers.

    Thanks NIVO
I thought thats what it is. I just wanted to make sure I could just "uninstall program" and I dont have to worry that they have it enbedded deeper. if that makes sence...*L
