BIOS 1.07 now available. No changelog. Still 8 MB graphics allocation to GMA950 in BIOS. Can't tell if that holds for Vista. (GPU-Z reports 8 MB) OS X reports 8 MB. I have no idea what Ubuntu 9.04 reports, but performance is still sub-par due to the massive renovations on the Intel driver.

Scouring the pages for the other models reveals some interesting tidbits:

*New Synaptics driver as of 4/30
*New ALPS driver as of 4/30 (even for AOD250...multitouch mentioned in changelog, will test on my Toshiba)
*3G drivers for Qualcomm (AOA110 and AOD250) and Option (AOD250)
*New set of BIOSes for 7xx and 5xx models
*AOD150 and AOD250 BIOSes are the same version numbers

Please report anything additional that you notice.

I updated to the new version but didn't notice any difference.

The processor still shoots up when the lid is closed (and you dont' configure the standby option when closing the lid).

The brightness still resets to full brightness when you turn off the computer and turn it back on.

Maybe the only change was the PXE boot, like the 8.9 aao listed on macles (http://macles.blogspot.com/).

hmmm. I had 1.05 installed and the brightness problem still occurred.

The brightness problem doesn't happen if you have the power cord plugged in,.. at least this was the case with 1.05. I haven't tried it with 1.07.

To the left of the "Driver" tab, there's a tab for "BIOS". Click on that and you'll see three versions (1.03, 1.05 and 1.07)

I tried to get the flashing procedure from Acer and they said it's not supported, strange. Let me ask you then, what is the procedure for installing V1.07 over V1.01 on my new D150-1669?

    Thanks.

You most likely are using the wrong file. There is also a 1.08 availabel for D150 from service backend.

Just download (make sure you get the correct version for your machine or you may brick it) and run with the power chord plugged in.

Thanks for the help. That's all I wanted to know. Amazing how many places I asked before someone would help. I had seen hints in various readme files but it was never clear. The zip file contains a KAV***.exe which has all the other stuff in it. Mine came with V1.01 and the latest is V1.07. I've got an issue with the on-screen indicators for brightness, volume, and wireless. An old BIOS may be the cause.

    Thanks again.

Re: New Drivers and BIOS Available 1.08

New version available (1.08). Can't find any information on what was changed/updated, but I think they fixed the brightness issue. I rebooted a few times and the brightness level stayed at what I set. If you have any information please post here.

They updated the BIOS again...to v1.09. This time I think they resolved the 100% CPU utilization when the lid is closed.
