    Hi

Just got my brand new glossy shiny shiny One this afternoon - It is great! just perfect! 120g HDD 512mb XP
Playing with it and seeing what it can do - absolutely no fan noise at all.

Speed for wi-fi good, connected really fast I am with the dreadfull VirginMedia..so i KNOW it's gonna drop out and lose connection lol it's more or less the same as my desktop.

Volume output seems weakish? I've got speakers attached (these were detected when plugged in) but have to
use nearly full vo l for decent level...ok with headphonews tho'

Track-pad perhaps a bit twitchy..but maybe that's me! but it's great for scrolling very usefull.

Got about 2hr 20mins bfore I had to plug it in..I reckon like with some of the PDA's I've had, a good soak for 4-6hrs
    will help batteries perform better.

Keyboard is nice, responsive, good feedback and nice soft 'click'' action - there's alot to find out about function/hot
keys too. As I type this, using backspace sometimes causes me to hit the 'ins' key and woops type disappears!

Screen is very crisp and clear, colors rich and strong very nice!

I was worried about the Hard disc 'bulge' underneath the unit I'd seen reported and spent ages looking at the only decent 'unboxing' of a 120HDD on UTube but well .....it's here and I can honestly say no problem! lol

Plan to get an external DVD-Rom to load stuff up.

So far so very good :D :D

See you have a 512mb 120gig Acer one running XP. Sounds like you are pleased with it, now you have had it a month or so, I am interested to know how it handles XP, does it run OK.
The reason is, I am looking to save some cash by buying the 512mb 120gig linux version and installing XP , Amazon uk are currently selling this version for £217, a bargain. I will probably set up a dual boot system, as I quite like the speed on the linux version, but a lot of my apps are XP programmes, that don't seem to run under "wine" very well.

    Thanks

    John

UPDATE -- I have now Purchased the 512mb 120gig linux version , and installed XP pro SP3. The AAO handles it a dream, it has passed all of my expectations. Plus I have followed the info supplied by "mercado79" and "sfbm", and I now have a dual boot system, XP & Linpus Linux. :D

The Acer Windows install is nice and lean, it's optimized in quite a few ways. I don't know how well a standard install would work, but the Acer install works beautifully.

As for the HDD bulge...ha. I had both models, SSD and HDD, for a few days, side by side. They're the exact same dimensions. the HDD bulge only bulges out as much as the CPU fan bulge, which is also present on the SSD model...so what's the fuss? It's not bigger, just a different shape. lol

The trackpad sensitivity can be adjusted in the Mouse settings. I leave mine turned all the way up though (with "enhanced pointer accuracy" turned off), I can't stand being unable to track from screen edge to screen edge in a single motion.

I've had my 120GB for a month and never noticed the "bulge" until you mentioned it.
