Don't know if this is a complete coincidence but ever since installing my 1Gb SODIMM my Aspire seems to be running a lot hotter than it used to.

It's not scorching but it is very noticeable beneath the left palm rest. The fan is also running too it's not noisy but you can feel hot air flowing out of left side vent. i never noticed this before.

anyone else experience this after a RAM upgrade ?

it's possible. ram does get warm/hot. anything like that will add to the heat inside and compound the effect more.

But all the heat seems concentrated under the left palm rest and not in the centre of the machine where the new RAM is.

pretty certain. seemed to be plugged fully home and in my experience SODIMM's don't lie flat and snap under the retaining arms unless they are in the socket properly.

it's registering 1.5Gb and working fine
