Hi, I have got a 110, and I want replace original SSD of 8 gb for a new SSD more faster.

But I want easily replace it, it must be plug-and-play, jeje.

I read in this forum about SSD of Mtron and Runcore, the capacity isn't very good (32 gb max, I don't need more of 16 gb) but its are more faster than original SSD. I thank you a guide that explain the change, too.

Somebody know where to buy these SSD? (I live in Spain, I need shipping worldwide)

Ah! I looking for a new battery of 6. In spain, this batteries cost 100 Euros.

    Thank you

It's a dead end. Acer chose P-ATA SSD drives and you won't find those anymore. There was once a replacement SSD with 30 GB for 120$, but meanwhile, it disapeared from the market. If you use Acer's Linpus Linux, just add a normal SD card to the Storage Expansion on the left side of your A110, it will automatically be added to the SSD's capacity.

If you really need to add internal mass storage, you can replace the SSD with a P-ATA ZIF 1.8" HD drive, should you dare

If you Google for "Runcore ZIF SSD" it turns up plenty of leads. Here's a couple:

    http://www.memoryc.co.uk/products/type/ ... ds=RunCore

    http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/Catego ... i+ZIF+SSDs

Note that the Runcore ZIF SSDs do not appear to be recognised by the AA1 BIOS, probably why MDD are listing them as "HP Mini only".

You can get a 6-cell battery on ebay, shipped to Europe for less than $60 USD.

That's not strictly true. ZIF SSDs are available but there are compatibility issues with the AA1 BIOS (the SSD does not appear to be recognised).
Cheap/early 1.8" HDs are horrible. The latest Samsung and Toshiba 1.8" devices are better but make for a very expensive upgrade.

    Hi ronime,

I can't really see your point. Why recommend a SSD that won't work in an AA1? And, compared to the slow SSD in the A110, 1.8" HDs will improve performance. Tnkgrl's blog (as linked above) features a Samsung SpinPoint N1. It's the half the price and twice the capacity of the discontinued Aspire One SSD from DigitalDiscount. So, why «very expensive upgrade»?

It's not the price, it's the work that frightens most ;)

I'm not recommending the Runcore ZIF SSDs at all. I'm merely refuting the claims that they don't exist or are very hard to find.

I take as I find and I find that the latest 1.8" HDs from Samsung and Toshiba are much more expensive than bigger 7200rpm SATA drives when purchased new in the UK. Maybe this siutation is different in other countries. I have been less than impressed with cheap "refurbished" iPod drives, both in terms of reliability and performance.

As I have already stated, price is an issue in the UK but I am in total agreement that this is far from a simple upgrade. Given the costs, the amount of warranty-voiding hacking required and my own experiences in being able to compare an A110 and an A150 side by side, my own recommendation is to sell A110 and buy A150.

If I was hell-bent on keeping and modifying an A110 I think that I would probably attempt to hook something up to the SATA port header. The OCZ Throttle eSATA hack looks like a good compromise of cost and performance.

I'm not afraid to open my aao, because I have opened it to upgrade ram memory to 1,5 ghz. I don't want soldier in MB, but I can open my aoo if it's necessary, no problem.

Runcore don't work in aao, ok, but the Mtron? do it work? I saw someone, but it costs 110 euros. Is the ZIF cable goes well in the AAO?

All solutions mean cut to open a place to put the hard disk, it isn't?

I prefer SSD, HDD spend more battery. Other solutions? Flash Memories, OCZ, for example?

The batteries doesn't original in ebay. Work it fine?

    Sorry for my english...

The 5mm high 1.8" devices can squeeze in with minimal cutting. You may need to be a bit more creative with an 8mm high device or a 2.5" device.

In my experience the 8GB SSD gives you about 15 minutes more runtime than a 2.5" SATA HDD on a 3-cell battery.

The batteries on ebay are typically not genuine Acer OEM parts, especially the 9-cells. All of the Acer batteries are made for Acer by other manufacturers, e.g. Sanyo, Panasonic. The 5200mAH 6-cell battery that I have is identified as manufactured by "Simplo", which is the same manufacturer as the 3-cell battery that came with my A110. Some of the ebay batteries are wrongly labelled. The first 5200mAH battery that I bought was actually 4400mAH. The replacement is genuinely 5200mAH, is of good quality and works fine.

Your English is infinitely better than my Spanish, amigo! I can understand what you are saying, don't worry!

Thanks for your answers, ronime. Tu eres bueno, my friend, LOL

I was reading that original ZIF of hard disk doesn't fit well in the aao, it's true?

For example, I am thinking about buy the Mtron SSD, The ZIF Cable original of Mtron, fit it correctly in the aao?

    Gracias :)
