NEW TO LINUX NEED HELP

    Hi,
    i got the aspire one notebook for christmas and i know everything to do with Windows XP but Linux is totally confusing!!! i found the section for display settings and was messing around with bits and then suddenly this appeared (in bootom hand corner of screen shot) i have no idea what it is!! when you put your mouse over it it says 'new item, this item has not yet been configured'

    i can move it around so it does not stop me from doing anything altough it is a pain in the back!!!!

    if anyone knows what this is please help me get rid of it lol

    Didn't you add another panel?? There was something about this in the forum... Try this: go to "panel manager" and remove all panel except Panel 1. This should help I hope...
