New to the fold

    Hi all,

    Just thought I'd say a quick hello. Bought the basic One at the weekend (8gb SSD, 512mb, Linpus) from dabs.com for £120. I was getting one for my gf's birthday and was seduced by the low price so picked one up for myself as well!

    Arrived this morning, awaiting my return from work. The gf's is going to remain standard, but I've bought mine to have a wee tinker with. Dedicated Mac user so might join the OSX on AAO crowd, who knows...

    These forums look like a great source of information and a good way to kill a few quiet hours!

    If you want to dump OS X on it, I'd suggest that you first upgrade the RAM, then switch the WiFi card out with one that i known to work under OS X, and finally do one of the harddisk mods (either switching the SSD out with a ZIF PATA disk, or mod it with the SATA connector, and use a SATA 2.5" disk.).
    OS X on the 8 GB SSD is not a viable option IMHO, if you want to use OS X for any real stuff. It's possible, but not really usefull - Kinda like dryhumping a supermodel - Fun, but not really what you want when you think about it.

    The AA1 is a great device for tinkering.

    Linpus is great in its own right and with a bit work it's really impressive what you can do with it.
